My Chemical Romance - Intro

They came from New Jersey...They started small, toured non-stop to get their name spread, were barely heard of, made a second album titled Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, let the world know they're "not okay", and became a HUGE success. And yet, they're still as normal as they were before, not full of themselves, and they still read comic books. Let's not forget, they've now become action figures....it's no joke.

Quick Band Bio

My Chemical Romance started out in 2001, and was formed by vocalist and main lyricist Gerard Way and former drummer Matt Pelisser. The name being courtesy of little brother Mikey Way and inspired by an Irving Welsh novel. Though, for a while Chemical Romance wasn't just a cool name, it described a certain someone's addiction to drugs and alcohol, which is now in the past (thankfully).

Their first album was titled I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love, and at that time, My Chemical Romance was signed to Eyeball Records, a local label in their home of New Jersey. The sound of Bullets was very aggressive when it came to the guitars, and comparing Gerard's vocals from then to now, you wouldn't think it was the same person.

My Chemical Romance started out playing basements and small venues. Their first tour van being a gift from Gerard and Mikey's loving grandmother, Elen, the band toured around the country, determined to get noticed. In 2004, all their hard work paid off when My Chemical Romance signed to Warner Bros. and Reprise to record Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. In all honesty, My Chemical Romance has definitely come a LONG way. They make Jersey-folk, like myself, very proud.
